Vision: Inspired by the Market Street Prototype festival in San Francisco, Shape Mandurah proposes to engage with the community by asking passionate individuals, community groups and local businesses to build their own activation ideas in Mandjar Square and Smart Street Mall.
“We believe in public spaces that are about ideas and aspirations of the public themselves. And not us telling them what they should be aspiring to.” – Neil Hrushowy, San Francisco Planning Department
If we can reimagine better ways to activate the streets of our town centre through prototype ideas we may be able to encourage permanent activation, create more culture and vibrancy and bring more people into our streets!
The Market Street Prototype Festival in San Francisco proves that the ongoing experimentation of activation ideas allows a local and authentic approach to rebuilding our beautiful city. Partnering with the Mandurah Performing Arts Centre HubBub Festival allows for further activation and a chance to check out some great creative performance shows from around the world.
